Holding place

This piece is made from the objects that I collected whilst walking (and getting to grips with) Harris. They are small, ordinary and everyone will have picked up similar things in the past. The things we choose to save can act as keys to our past experiences and each object, however common, will mean something unique to that person.

These fragments bring back numerous memories associated with the place in which they were collected – memories that will shift and be remade over time. They have been sewn into pockets of varnished silk that blur the details of their form. It is a simple work that aims to narrate a moment in time.
