The work for Surface II at The Crypt Gallery is up. The 8 cloths hang neatly in an alcove just to the left of the main entrance.
The piece is titled ‘Waxed Muslin Cloths: The metaphorical wrapping of the body by sound’. It references an experience of one particular place on the North Norfolk coast. These words come from my sketchbook …….
‘The sand, sea, horizon and sky fill my vision on three sides
Although I stand in the centre the sight of these phenomena seem to be pushed away from my body to stand like enclosing walls – the walls seem strangely distant, as if not part of the environment.
The predominant sensation is the sound of the restless wind wrapping around my body.’
