Early morning

I was up early today and went for a walk in an attempt to shrug off the effects of all the Christmas pudding I have eaten. The sun was just rising and it was a very big tide with the sea completely covering the marshes.  There was no one else about apart from a couple of ducks and a flock of starlings in the crow’s nest of The Albatros  – the only noises were the calls of birds. The faintest pink tinge on the horizon gradually gave way to what promises to be a rather grey December day.
